A mountain cheese maker and restaurant in Château-d'Oex
Built in 1976 by Mr. Marcel Lenoir, Le Chalet mirrors a real mountain chalet. In 2012, Le Chalet reopens to the public. The mountain restaurant is on the second floor and the shop on the first floor. At Le Chalet, you can also see a miniature model of the MOB train that runs from Montreux to the Bernese Oberland.
The main tourist attraction of the place is the making of cheese on a wood stove with a cheese maker in traditional attire. "Le Chalet Bio" cheese will then mature in a cellar and then be served in traditional dishes at the restaurant.
You will attend a demonstration of traditional cheese making on a wood stove, in the middle of the restaurant. The milk used here comes from the Chalet owner's Estate and is certified "biological". Then you will eat a cheese fondue meal, made with chesse produced in the restaurant. Every client will take home a piece of cheese made on the premises.
Drinks and other orders shall be paid directly at the restaurant. It is possible to replace cheese fondue with a similarly-priced dish on the menu.
Children discount up to 13 years : Free --> includes cheese making demonstration. Children's drinks and food must be paid directly at the restaurant.
Have fun in this authentic place that cannot be missed!
